Gardener
Permanent Full or Part time hours available, let us know what you can do from 10 to 36
hours. Allocation of shifts are flexible; to be agreed at interview .
Caring for and maintaining gardens for our residential nursing homes; This position will
be working at one or more of our care homes, depending on agreed hours, locations to be
discussed at interview.
Pay rate £12.54 per hour

About the job
Inspiring and relaxing surroundings are essential to our residents’ individual wellbeing. By
creating and looking after the beautiful outdoor spaces, our Gardeners support the quality of life
of all our residents. Reporting to the Home Manager and group-wide Head Gardener, you will
develop and maintain the gardens and outside spaces to the highest standards. As well as a full
range of physical gardening tasks, you will treat residents with courtesy and respect and
encourage their interest in the garden. Many of our gardeners take an active interest in providing
‘gardening clubs’ to residents which supports their wellbeing, enabling them to continue a
passion and interest in nature, plants, flowers and the seasons. Garden club work may be paid
extra to contract.
About you
You have proven gardening experience, knowledge of horticulture and, ideally, an understanding
of the care home environment. You are confident using a wide range of garden equipment
including power tools, can prioritise tasks and work efficiently on your own initiative. Literate in
English, you are a good communicator, with a friendly, kind, honest and reassuring personality.
