Garden Maintenance Assistant

Job Description

 

This role is ideal for someone with a genuine interest in horticulture who is looking to further develop their skills while working closely alongside the lead gardener and wider team. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of a variety of beautiful gardens to a high professional standard.

Essential Requirements

Minimum RHS Level 1 qualification in Horticulture
or
Minimum 2 years’ experience working within private gardens, estates, or garden maintenance
Good plant knowledge and practical horticultural skills
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and progress
Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills

Experience in lawn care and hedge maintenance
Basic maintenance and care of horticultural tools and machinery
Understanding of seasonal garden management
The Role

Duties will include assisting with:

General garden maintenance
Plant and border care
Pruning and hedge cutting
Lawn maintenance
Seasonal horticultural tasks
Safe use and upkeep of tools and machinery
The successful candidate will work closely with the lead gardener while also being trusted to carry out tasks independently when required.
