Assistant Arboriculturalist/Arboriculturalist

Job Description

 

Your work will include undertaking Tree Hazard Evaluation Surveys and BS5837 tree surveys, as well as supporting the preparation of Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Arboricultural Method Statements. Advising clients on appropriate tree management and including pruning specifications, tree retention and removal strategies, and tree protection and long-term maintenance plans, including tree planting.
You will also have the opportunity to conduct Arboricultural Clerk of Works (AcoW), providing site-based supervision and ensuring best practice is maintained throughout project delivery.
You would work closely with colleagues across other disciplines, including Ecology and Landscape, supporting an integrated approach to project delivery. Applicants should demonstrate the following
? Education to at least level 3 in arboriculture, or additional qualification relevant to this field of work;
? A willingness to increase your knowledge/abilities by on the job training/guidance;
? A genuine interest in trees and a good knowledge of trees/ shrubs and associated fungi found in the UK;
? A full driving license and car ownership;
? Good report writing and communication skills;
? Familiarity with TPO and Conservation Area legislation;
? Competence in standard office software including MS Word, Excel, AutoCad; (AutoCAD experience is not essential, as training can be provided).

It would be advantageous for applicants to have previous experience in arboricultural consultancy or Local Authority or additional technical roles such as past tree surveying and use of tree data capture software. An interest in ecology and/or landscape architecture would be beneficial, but not essential for this role.
