The Role
Reporting to the Works Manager and supervised by the Lead Carpenter, the Apprentice Carpenter will be an integral part of our small carpentry team. You'll gain hands-on experience maintaining, improving, and altering the College's extensive range of buildings, which span from the 14th to the 21st century.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Skill Development: Developing practical carpentry skills in conjunction with an appropriate apprentice training course at a College of Further Education.
• Team Support: Supporting our existing carpentry team in various maintenance, improvement, and alteration projects across the College's diverse building stock.
• Departmental Contribution: Being a willing and adaptable member of the Works Department, prepared to work beyond typical carpentry tasks to support wide-ranging duties.

About You
We are seeking an individual with a clear aptitude for carpentry and a strong desire to learn and develop.

• Aptitude for Carpentry: A demonstrated clear aptitude for carpentry skills.
• Commitment to Learning: Fulfilment of all requirements to attend a relevant carpentry course at a College of Further Education.
• Physical Capability: Awareness of the physical nature of the position, including the requirement to work under all weather conditions and once trained, at heights.

What We Offer
• Start Date: September 2025.
• Working Hours: This is a fixed-term position, initially for 42 months, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks of the year (Monday-Friday), with some evening and weekend requirements.
• Salary: £22,900.55 (gross) per annum, paid monthly. Salary levels are reviewed annually in September.
